It’s the most wonderful time of the year *Andy Williams voice* This following Wednesday was opening day at my local farmer’s market. So of course, my dad and I were the first people there! And as a lover of all fruits, and vegetables, and flowers, I was in heaven walking down the isles of fresh goodies. So real talk. What’d I fill my bags with? Zucchini, green beans, sunflowers, red potatoes, and mini cucumbers. (more…)

(Warning: post may contain spoilers) I recently finished Netflix’s new original series Life Sentence, staring Lucy Hale and Brooke Lyons. In this heartwarming comedy, Lucy Hale plays the role of Stella Abbott, a young twenty some who is diagnosed with terminal cancer in her teen years. At such a young age, Stella’s life nears an end. Or so she thought. Following a few years of treatment and test trials, oh and a spur of the moment marriage, the doctors enlighten Stella with miraculous news. She is cured. Now with a seven month husband, no high school diploma, and well, no real world experience, Stella is forced to face the wrath of reality. And boy do things get messy. Secrets unravel. Ex-lovers appear. Marital disputes. Gosh, do not even get me started with the family drama. (more…)

Hi friends!! Welcome back to Mackenzie Kateri! After a few short (and stressful) weeks of graduation party planning and prep, the grand event finally took place. On Saturday, my friends and family gathered to celebrate my graduation. The event took place in my church banquet hall which was the perfect size. The color scheme of the party consisted of mostly golds, whites, and royal purple (the color of the university I am attending)!! I mixed this palette with shabby chic woods and burlap. I jumped on the Pinterest grad party band wagon and decorated the hall with photo boards, a candy bar, and of course, a rustic boho inspired photo booth. Check em’ out!! Overall, I had an amazing time and I am glad that I had the opportunity to celebrate my graduation with the people that I love most. As always, thank you so, so much for reading! XO, MK. (more…)

It’s Summertime! The most carefree and fashion forward season. The most adventurous season of them all. The time of sunshine, road trips, pool parties, and playlists. Gather your friends. Grab a pen and piece of paper (maybe even a post board and cute, colorful markers if you’re feeling spontaneous). And check out my 2018 Summer bucket list. I already crossed off a few of these activities (pictures included of course,) but I can’t wait to mark every box with a check! I hope that my list inspires you all to try something new, something different this Summer! As always, thanks so much for reading! XO, MK. (more…)

So I know I throw this term around a lot- Girl Boss. But now that I think about it, I never really explained what exactly a girl boss is, or rather I say who she is. A girl boss is a dreamer chaser, a goal achiever, one who pushes herself to accomplish anything. She is determined, yet kind. Success hungry. Eager. Ambitious. But, that is not to say she does not fail sometimes. She uses the obstacles in her life to make her stronger. Epic setbacks are her motivation. She really is the boss of her own life. Let’s here what the original girl boss Sophia Amoruso, founder of Nasty Gal, has to say:

“Someone who is in charge of her own life. She gets what she wants because she works for it. As a #GIRLBOSS, you take control and accept responsibility. You’re a fight- you know when to throw punches and when to roll with them…”

So, with that being said. Are you a girl boss? In today’s post I chose my top five biggest and baddest girl bosses throughout history. These five women inspire me. They are role models that push me to not only chase, but fight for my dreams. Take a look!! As always, thanks so much for reading  . XO, MK. (more…)
