Oh no. Cardio.
I make it apart of my gym routine to do at least thirty minutes of cardio (UGH). But, I always try to mix it up! Some days I’ll hop on the treadmill, others I prefer the elliptical or the stair master. But, I always have the same problem. I. Get. Bored. So here are a few tricks to make your thirty minute or more cardio session breeze by!
Make a To-Do List
I like to hit the gym first thing in the morning, so I don’t have to make time for it later in the day. So I’ll make a to-do list of things I have to do during the day, anything from errands to personal reminders. This works great during the school year too! I would make lists of uncompleted homework or brainstorm ideas for projects and papers (I know nerd alert!).
Have a Killer Playlist
A killer playlist is essential. I use apple music! It’s so convenient and you can make as many playlists as you want. I always prefer songs with a fast beat when I’m working out. I have a lot of throwback songs, along with new hits. Some of my favorites are Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) by Katy Perry (I know so 2011!!) and Starships by Nicki Minaj. Comment your favorite workout songs ladies!!
Delete Old Photos
Everyday I see the dreaded notification on my phone that I’m almost out of storage. Who’s with me?! So, I’m always looking for ways to gain storage. Of course, I always try to delete messages first. It’s easy, but time consuming. A great way to pass time during a stair master session.
And of course going the gym and eating healthy go hand and hand. So what are some of my favorite healthy summer snacks?
Dark Chocolate Quinoa Bites
I know. I know. You might be thinking.. what?? Dark chocolate and quinoa? Have some faith. I promise they are AH-mazing. Surprisingly they taste like a Nestle Crunch Bar. Don’t believe me? Try them for yourself!! The snack is made by Next Organics. I found these at Wegmans, but I also saw them at Weis.
Twenty five calories for a bag of popcorn? Say what! That’s right. My favorite is butter and sea salt. But, Skinnygirl also sells rosemary and lime and salt flavored popcorn. Sometimes I will drizzle dark chocolate over the popcorn and sliced almonds!
QuestBar Protein Bar
Low cal. High protein. And delicious. Quest bars are by favorite my favorite protein bars. They have such a variety of flavors. The perfect snack before or after a workout, that keeps you full for hours. Also great for traveling! I’ll pack a few when I go on vacation or a day trip.
